My research and teaching interests focus on exploring interactions between humans and the environment. I use my background in marine science and organic geochemistry to describe changes in biogeochemical cycles in aquatic systems. I have a broad interest in environmental science and strive to include field experience and data analysis in my teaching to ensure that students are comfortable with all aspects of science, from collecting and handling samples to exploring trends and relationships in large data sets. My research in and out of the classroom includes studies of the impact of dams on biogeochemical cycles, wetland restoration, microplastic pollution, and advances in environmental monitoring. I’m always looking to see what else other research topics would help to advance my research and my teaching. When I’m not on campus I’m out hiking, riding motorcycles, scuba diving, and fishing.
