BLACK DESERT RESORT TURF MANAGEMENT INTERN

Position Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Turf Management Intern to join our team at Black Desert Resorts. This internship program provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in turfgrass science, maintenance, and management. The selected candidate will work closely with our experienced turf management team and participate in various aspects of turf care, pest and disease management, renovation projects, and more.

Learning and Development
Gain an introductory understanding of turfgrass science and management principles.
Develop proficiency in identifying common turfgrass species, pests, and diseases.
Learn to operate and maintain turf management equipment safely and effectively.
Acquire knowledge of irrigation systems, soil testing, and turf fertilization practices.
Understand the importance of sustainable and environmentally responsible turf management practices.

RED CLIFFS DESERT RESERVE

Washington County Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) is looking to hire one paid, part-time intern to assist with
the following activities during springtime through summer 2024:

  • Desert Tortoise and Common Raven field surveys
  • Data collection/organization for all field surveys
  • Care of captive and wild desert tortoises at the ‘Temporary Care Facility’
  • Trail maintenance and signage replacement
  • Mapping of invasive plants
  • Potential to assist with native seed collection and restoration projects
  • Tortoise fencing inspections and repair
    Assistance with Outreach/Education efforts
  • May be asked to assist with weekly facility maintenance at Confluence Park
  • Other miscellaneous work as assigned
